Ex-Ajax youth chief: Gravenberch better than Man Utd's Pogba at same age

The former junior coach of Ajax midfielder Ryan Gravenberch rates him as more talented at the same age as Manchester United ace Paul Pogba.

Brian Tevreden, now with Reading, worked with Gravenberch in the Ajax academy.

“Even then he was incredible," he recalled to Goal.

At 12, Gravenberch was promoted to the U15s.

“Not everyone was happy with that, because they wondered if he was ready for it. One of the coaches called him too childish for that level, but I was sure because he was so good technically and physically. He had it way too easy between his own peers, so in my view he was ready for that step," added Tevreden.

He also said, “Physically I see Frank Rijkaard in Ryan because he is very tall and strong. But in terms of game he really looks a lot like Pogba. I would say that in terms of technique and dominance on the field, he is an even better version of him in his best days at Juventus. Then Pogba played very dominantly and I see that also with Ryan."
