Ex-Ajax defender Vink: If I was Man Utd boss Ten Hag I'd be p***ed off with LVG

Former Ajax defender Marcino Vink has slammed Holland coach Louis van Gaal for talking Jurrien Timber out of a move to Manchester United.

It's been claimed Timber was all set to join United before Van Gaal warned him about his playing chances and where that would leave him with the Oranje.

"I find it incomprehensible that Louis van Gaal influenced Timber's choice," Vink said on Voetbal Talk. “Van Gaal indicates that players do select, even though they do not always play. And he says that Timber should stay at Ajax, because the chance of playing time at Manchester United may be smaller.

"Then I think: that's a bit contradictory. You also shout that you select (Steven) Bergwijn because he delivers, while he is not playing...

“Who says he won't play if he goes to Man United?

“And who says he can't deliver for the Dutch national team if he's not playing for Man United? So on the one hand he obliges a boy to stay at a club and make a wise choice, but on the other hand you shout from the rooftops that it doesn't matter if you play little at your club. I don't think a national coach can do that. If I were (Erik) Ten Hag, I'd be p***ed about it. Timber is the right reinforcement for Man United."
