Everton's Jagielka delighted with England debut

Everton defender Phil Jagielka was delighted to win his first England cap against Trinidad & Tobago on Sunday.

"The last 10 days have just been a fantastic experience," said Jagielka, who has been training with the squad since before the USA game last week.

"After getting into the 'B' team last year, England was always at the back of my mind when I came here (to Everton)."

Indeed, the former Sheffield United man reckons playing for the Toffees has made a big difference to his international ambitions.

"I suppose you get noticed more when you play for a top five team. It's been a great way to end the season and it was nice to get a few minutes," he said "It's been brilliant. All I wanted was a cap for a perfect end to the season."
