Everton are planning a shock swoop for Salomon Rondon.
It had been a foregone conclusion that Rondon would make his Newcastle loan into a permanent deal at season's end.
The Venezuelan has been showed his quality for Toon since joining from West Bromwich Albion last summer, adding nine Premier League goals to his name.
Newcastle can sign the 29-year-old permanently if they hand over £16m to Albion.
If they fail do so, however, Everton will be ready to pounce, according to the Daily Star.
