Everton are hoping to lure Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City this summer.
The Telegraph is reporting that the Toffees are lining up a £25million offer for the Iceland international who has been a star for the Swans over the past few seasons.
Steve Walsh's appointment as Everton's director of football has coincided with the club's interest in Sigurdsson who commands a hefty fee after a successful Euro2016 with his country.
The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has previously been a target for Walsh at Leicester City and Toffees boss Ronald Koeman at Southampton and is now once again on the radar of the pair.
Koeman is determined to land a number of quality players after taking over at Goodison Park and has the backing of majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri to spend up in the current transfer window.
