Everton striker Saha: I almost retired at Man Utd

Everton striker Louis Saha admits he came close to retirement while with Manchester United.

Despite Everton's dodgy form, the hitman is enjoying life at Goodison Park having revealed two months ago how he nearly quit the game.

Saha came close to hanging up his boots as he continued to break down with aches and strains at United.

He added in Everton's matchday programme: "I had so many discussions with Sir Alex Ferguson, with my wife, my family and my friends.

"It was really, really tough and I was close to stopping. It was really hard to cope with the injustice of working hard for no reward.

"I'm an honest player, I don't cheat so I couldn't understand and I was looking for answers and couldn't find them.

"But in life you make choices and Everton came along and it revived my career. I'm happy and I'm glad I made that choice because it could have gone the other ways, but it has gone the best way."
