Everton striker Wayne Rooney is ready to sign a two-year contract with DC United.

Rooney will sign a deal with DC United in the next 36 hours, reports Sky Sports News.

The 32-year-old is expected in Washington before the end of the week after both clubs came to an agreement with Rooney's agent Paul Stretford.

Rooney is understood to have secured a visa and work permit and could begin training with his new team-mates by the end of the week.

England's record goalscorer is not allowed to join DC United until their transfer window opens on July 10.
