Everton star Sigurdsson inspired by Lampard family

Everton ace Gylfi Sigurdsson admits he draws inspiration from the Lampard family.

Sigurdsson admits he modelled his game on former Chelsea star Frank and then benefitted when he was coached by Lampard Snr for six months at Reading.

“I used to watch Lampard a lot when I was young," said the Icelandic international to the Mirror. “Of course he played in one of the best teams of the time but he knew when to arrive in the box. His fitness was incredible, I don't think he gets enough credit for his fitness.

“I worked with his father at Reading for half a season or so and you can see why he was the player he was.

“I really enjoyed working with his dad. I wouldn't say he was old school but he worked me hard.

“I did a lot of finishing drills, shooting sessions, a little bit on fitness and something that you need as a midfielder.

“You learn with experience and with every season you play, you get to know your body better and I feel that now, coming into the second half of the season, I know my body better than when I was 21 or 22."
