Everton's Martinez: Lukaku is the 'complete striker'

Roberto Martinez has heaped praise on Romelu Lukaku after he conjured a hat-trick for Everton on Thursday night.

The Belgian striker guided the Toffees to a comfortable 4-1 win over Young Boys in the Europa League Round of 32 first leg in Bern with goals in the 24th, 39th and 58th minutes which prompted the following words from a proud Martinez.

"He's a special footballer who we love seeing developing, and he's just enjoying being an important player for Everton," said the Spaniard whose side came from behind to notch a comfortable win in Switzerland.

"He's the complete striker, but he's only 21 and people forget about that. Our desire and work we put in over the summer was to show we are the perfect place for him to develop.

"We saw today he really makes a difference in front of goal and he's someone who is going to have a really strong ending to the season."

Lukaku's trio of goals took his Europa League scoring tally to four from six outings which has him on 13 from 34 in all competitions this season.
