Everton manager Roberto Martinez has refused to speculate on the rumours linking the Toffees with Ron Vlaar.

The 30-year-old Dutch defender is currently a free agent after he declined a contract extension offered by his previous club Aston Villa in the summer.

Vlaar, who is training with former club AZ Alkmaar, has been heavily linked with a shift to Goodison Park to replace the injured Phil Jagielka.

"[Ron Vlaar] has experience in the Premier League," Martinez said.

"He is unattached, but there has been no discussions and nothing to comment on."

The Dutch international is still recovering from the surgery on a torn medial meniscus he underwent in the summer.
