Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana is a target for Everton.
The Daily Mail says Everton have asked Rennes about taking Sulemana on an initial loan.
The 20-year-old Ghana international was on Newcastle's list but his £40million price tag put the Magpies off.
Nevertheless, Sulemana is open to leaving Rennes during the January transfer window and could join Everton - who are currently fighting a relegation battle.
Blues manager Frank Lampard is hoping Sulemana - who joined Rennais in the summer of 2021 from FC Nordsjaelland - will strength his forward line.
However, Everton face stiff competition from Augsburg and Bournemouth for Sulemana's services - despite the fact he has struggled with injuries this season.
