Everton News: Pickford hails Allardyce staff; Konsa price too rich

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is full of praise for manager Sam Allardyce's backroom team.

Allardyce has assembled an experienced and high-calibre backroom staff, with Sammy Lee and Craig Shakespeare – both former Premier League bosses – brought in as assistant manager and first-team coach respectively.

And towards the end of 2017 Allardyce appointed England goalkeeper coach Martyn Margetson to the same post with the Toffees.

“The gaffer brought in a really good coaching staff, in my opinion," said Pickford to evertonfc.com.

“They have all had a really positive impact. My work with 'Marg' is all about small details, which add up to keeping the ball out of the net and winning the match on a Saturday.

“I worked with Sammy a couple of times with England. He is a great guy and gets the place buzzing. Shakey did so well with Leicester and has such great experience. He is someone we can talk to if we need to."

Meanwhile, Charlton Athletic are confident they've seen off Premier League suitors for Ezri Konsa.

The defender appears set to stay at Charlton for the rest of the season with both Liverpool and Everton unwilling to match the League One club's £5million valuation.

Both Merseyside clubs have a good relationship with Charlton - the Blues poached Ademola Lookman while Liverpool snaffled Joe Gomez - but neither side are willing to pay the Addicks' requested premium.
