Everton signing Ramiro Funes Mori has been likened to great Argentine defender Daniel Passarella.
The Toffees signed the 24-year-old from River Plate for £9.5million earlier on deadline day and to shed some more light on the new player, evertonfc.com commissioned the help of Buenos Aires-based journalist.
Sam Kelly, who works for ESPNFC and host a weekly podcast pertaining to Argentine football, has compared Funes Mori to former River Plate, Fiorentina and Inter Milan defender Passarella who won the World Cup twice with Argentina.
"The inevitable comparison, since he's a goalscoring defender who likes to carry the ball out from the back, and who's come through at River Plate, is with Daniel Passarella," said Kelly.
"I can't promise you he'll reach quite that level, though!"
He added: "It's going to be a step-up in pace for him and he might find the refereeing tricky at first - the Argentine Primera is a very physical division in which referees frequently let defenders get away with tackles that would be yellow or red cards elsewhere, so he's going to need to adapt to that quickly.
"He's going to need a while to get used to the English game but should be okay once he settles."
