Everton forward Steven Naismith feels the team needs to return to their simple game plan of 2013/14 if they want to move back up the Premier League table.
The Toffees finished fifth in Roberto Martinez's first season in charge before falling to 11th last season as they wrestled with Europa League football.
Ahead of the new campaign, Scotland international Naismith is looking for a more clinical style of play as they strive to recover from the disappointments of 2014/15.
"I think we just need to go back to what we were doing and make sure we have a lot of options for the man with the ball and take our chances," the 28-year-old told Sky Sports News HQ.
"We have a clinical team and have forwards who can score goals from nothing. We have some fantastic young players in the squad as well, so it's about getting the best out of everybody, carrying that on and building up a bit of momentum."
