Everton have moved to beat Atletico Madrid to the signing of River Plate striker Rafael Borre.
The 24 year-old helped River reach the Copa Libertadores final last month and his form has caught the eye of Atletico coach Diego Simeone.
However, Radio Continental says Simeone will face competition from Everton football chief Marcel Brands.
Everton are in contact with River and willing to offer €15m to bring Borre to England next month.
The Blues are confident they'll avoid work permit problems given Borre is now a senior Argentina international.
