Everton's move for Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun has suddenly stalled.
The Mirror says Everton believed they had agreed a £25 million deal to sign Besiktas striker Tosun, but were stunned when his Istanbul club raised the asking price at the 11th hour.
That has led to a stand-off over the fee, with negotiations grinding to a halt as the New Year dawned — despite the player flying to London to complete the deal.
Besiktas are now believed to be demanding more than £27m for the Turkey international, after being hit with a price increase for the man they want as his replacement.
Everton are now ready to pull the plug on the transfer if Besiktas continue to demand a higher price.
