Everton midfielder Sigurdsson explains why players failed to thank away fans at Anfield

Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has explained why the players went straight down the tunnel after defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday.

After the match only a handful of players applauded the travelling support, with Djibril Sidibe the only one to make a point of walking over to the Anfield Road end to thank and apologise to the departing Evertonians.

Sigurdsson explained to the Mirror: "I think everyone is totally disappointed. I think the players are all different people in how they deal with the loss. It's one of those things.

"Yeah, of course usually more players go to the fans. It's not the kind of thing for the team not to do and I am sure in the future there will be more players going towards them."
