Everton midfielder Onana: Lampard wants me to develop as a No8

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is happy with his decision to move to Goodison Park.

The Blues completed the signing of Onana from Lille on a five-year deal back in August. West Ham United had agreed a £33.5m deal for the Belgian international but Everton nipped in ahead of their Premier League rivals.

"Given that the game goes faster than in the French championship, I think that I have improved my scanning and the speed of execution with the ball," he told RTBF.

"I work on finishing a lot with the coach after training. It's one of the missing pieces in my game, we all find the two that I can be more decisive. I also work physically because the sequence of matches is not always obvious and therefore recovery is very important."

Before he added on his relationship with manager Frank Lampard, saying: "The trainer makes me evolve in eight with a style of box to box. He estimates that with my qualities, I am capable of carrying out the defensive and offensive tasks.

“He tries to instill that in me since he did it during his career and therefore there is no better thing than to have him as a coach. I watched the Premier League a lot when I was little, Lampard is a legend of English football."
