Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye admits PSG heartbreaker

Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye admits he was desperate to move to PSG last month.

PSG pushed hard to sign the Senegal international, but Everton refused to do business.

Gueye told L'Equipe: "It's a dream that has unfortunately not come true. Every player works to join big teams, to play such matches in the Champions League. But I was honored that PSG was interested in me.

"Now, I know that I'm interested in this kind of club, that I'm ready to go one last step to join a top European club. I'm going to work harder to get back to that. It may not be over with Paris ... If I was able to negotiate a good exit? It was not said like that. I hope PSG comes back or another great European club that allows me to move into another dimension.

"I saw everything PSG also represented during this month of negotiations. I've never had so many calls, texts, messages, even people I did not know on social networks, only in January! These people told me it was great. They dreamed for me too. My best friend was at my mother's place waiting in Senegal. When he knew it had not happened, he cried the whole evening of January 31.

"When I returned to France recently, people recognised me more than before. Even the customs officer at the airport asked me why it was not done. He was a Parisian supporter. It never happened to me before."
