Everton manager Benitez confident of more signings before window shuts

Everton manager Rafa Benitez admits his side will be active in the final days of the transfer window.

The market closes at the end of the day on Tuesday for Premier League clubs.

A majority of teams, including Benitez's Toffees, will be hoping to conclude various incomings and outgoings to reshape their squads.

Benitez said on transfers after his side's win over Brighton this weekend, per the Liverpool Echo: "I think that we can do it, it's a big difference when you're in the transfer market early because you are signing exactly what you are looking for.

"When you are signing a bit later, you have to sign something you need and if you can fix problems you are much better.

"We brought in Demarai Gray for his quality, [Andros] Townsend for his quality and experience in the Premier League. We were trying to make sure we had the wingers that maybe the squad didn't have last year."

He added: "We have some players with quality already, so if we bring more experience and this kind of player that we need in some positions we can be stronger as a squad.

"Maybe some people will expect a big name, someone that can change something on the pitch, but at this stage of the transfer window it's not easy.

"The main thing is to be sure we make the right decisions with players."
