Everton make late offers for Chris Smalling and Alex Iwobi

Everton have launched a series of late market bids.

Sky Sports says Everton have had late offers for Chris Smalling and Alex Iwobi rejected.

The Toffees are eager to bring in a central defender and winger before the deadline after a busy summer at Goodison Park.

Everton had wanted to sign Kurt Zouma permanently after an impressive loan last season but the Frenchman remains part of Frank Lampard's first-team plans at Chelsea .

Wilfried Zaha also emerged as a target but Crystal Palace are demanding at least £80m for the wantaway winger.

A loan offer was made to Manchester United for defender Smalling.

Everton's offer for Alex Iwobi, believed to be worth £30m, has also been rejected by Arsenal .
