Everton legend Southall: Only world class thing at the club are the fans

Everton legend Neville Southall has urged "controlled aggression" tonight.

The Toffees can confirm survival with a game to spare if they beat Crystal Palace at Goodison Park tonight.

Speaking to Sky Sports this morning, the 63-year-old said: "I think the only world class thing at the club at the moment are the fans.

"I think they've been world class ever since I've known them and I think they'll continue to be world class.

"I think what they've done is they've banded together, they've shown a fantastic spirit and they've tried to lift the team as best they can.

"They've shown what they can do and all they want is the players to replicate what the fans do really, and that's go there with passion and a bit of class and hopefully carry the team through.

"At the end of the day the players have to be detached. I suppose it has to be like Tyson Fury going into a fight.

"You have to have that detached brain and you have to be (able to show) controlled aggression and you have to think your way through the game.

"You have to look at the opponent's weaknesses and try to expose them."
