Everton hope to land Mbia for knockdown fee

Everton boss David Moyes is ready to wrap up a deal for Rennes midfielder Stephane Mbia.

Moyes tried hard for the midfielder last summer only for the French side to demand £12million.

The 6ft 1in Cameroon star then picked up an injury and the stalemate over the fee meant he stayed put, says the Daily Mail.

Arsenal showed an interest in January and he expressed a desire to go there but Everton's fifth-place finish and FA Cup final appearance has helped convince him Goodison Park is his best destination.

Sources in France say the 23-year-old will agree terms with Everton and Rennes will drop the price with Everton hoping to pay around £6m.
