Everton fullback Sidibe: France wouldn't have won World Cup without Giroud

Everton fullback Djibril Sidibe has heaped praise on Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

Giroud struck in Chelsea's 4-0 rout of Everton on Sunday.

And Sidibe says he deserves is place in the France squad: “We were very surprised. It is true that for an attacker, we say that he must score 5, 6 or 7 goals. But in the overall thing, he helped us, he relieved us. I don't think the French team would have won the World Cup without Giroud, without his defensive and offensive contribution, his support, his combination with Antoine (Griezmann) and Kylian (Mbappé).

"He has experience, he's been on the team for a long time. We know that when it is necessary to go into contact, he is there, and that allows Kylian, Coman or Dembélé to run. We were disappointed and sad for him (for the public criticism).

"But he came out with a lot of determination, it was a source of motivation for him."
