Everton fullback Baines wary of Newcastle threat

Everton fullback Leighton Baines says he rates tomorrow's opponents Newcastle United highly.

But Baines has told the visitors they face a Toffees team brimming with confidence after their late surge to claim a point against Manchester United.

"The result and the manner of the United game have done so much for us. I think this week in training would have been so different had we lost that game," Baines told evertontv.

"It has done a lot for us confidence-wise and hopefully we can use that as a platform for the Newcastle game.

"I still think we need to have a bit more devilment in front of goal and be a bit sterner at the back and the results will come.

"Newcastle are off the back of a disappointing result and they will be coming here with a little bit less pressure. When they are at home they get put under some pretty intense pressure so they'll probably be happy to come and play an away game, especially at a place like Goodison which is a terrific place to play football.

"They will have a lot of confidence from last season. They dominated the league and deserve to be in the Premier League. They are a good, confident side and they are certainly no Championship side."
