Everton have been eliminated from the Brazil-based Future Champions tournament by Atletico Mineiro.
Everton's Academy team suffered a heart-breaking defeat in the semi-finals of their tournament in Brazil.
The young Blues lost 1-0 to Atletico Mineiro.
Blues coach Kevin Sheedy told evertonfc.com: "We've lost the game 1-0 but there was nothing in it.
"The lads put in 100 per cent effort in difficult conditions and were desperately disappointed to concede. They didn't deserve it, they deserved for the game to go to penalties."
The travelling Toffees will now play in the 3rd/4th play-off game on Saturday against either Cruzeiro or Vasco da Gama.
