Everton dump shirt sponsors SportPesa

Everton have announced that they will be ending their arrangement with shirt sponsor SportPesa at the end of the 2019/20 season, cutting the contract short by two seasons, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The gambling firm has been the Premier League club's primary partner since 2017, when it signed a five-year deal worth a reported UK£9.6 million (US$12.5 million) a year.

Now, after what the club described as 'a comprehensive review' of their commercial strategy, Everton have decided to terminate the agreement and embark on a search for a new shirt sponsor ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Commenting on the contract termination, a club spokesperson said: "This has been a difficult decision but one that allows us to best deliver on our commercial plan and to grasp the new opportunities now open to us.

"The club would like to thank SportPesa for all of the work that has been done together. Our partnership has seen our first team visit Africa on two occasions, as well as former players and club staff take part in numerous activations in the region. This has allowed us to grow our own footprint in Africa and further strengthen our special relationship with the continent."
