Everton director of football keen on Rooney reunion

Everton director of football Steve Walsh agrees with the boss Ronald Koeman that Wayne Rooney would be welcomed back at the club.

Former Toffees striker Rooney has been linked with the Chinese Super League but says he will remain at Manchester United, where he is contracted until 2019.

Walsh told Sky Sports: "Wayne Rooney is one of the greatest players that has ever played the game in England and for us not to be interested would be wrong.

"He started his career here and if the opportunity arose that he could come back and it sat well with everyone it is something we would consider. I think the whole thing would be euphoric. I think we could sell a lot of shirts, that's for sure."
