Everton defender Mina insists feud with Barcelona star Messi 'left on pitch'

Everton defender Yerry Mina insists there's no feud with Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

The pair clashed as Argentina defeated Colombia on penalties in the Copa America semifinal. Argentina would go onto win the final against hosts Brazil.

The spat culminated with Messi having the last laugh, as the Barcelona forward mocked his former club teammate after he missed a penalty in the shootout.

"Why don't you dance now?" Messi yelled from the halfway line after Mina missed his spot kick, in what went viral on social media.

However, the Everton defender does not hold personal grudges against Messi.

"What happened with Leo is something that can happen at any moment, this is football," Mina said at an event hosted by his charity organisation in Guachene.

"Life has cycles, it gives [opportunities for] revenge, but I am calm because I know that Leo is a great person.

"I met him at Barcelona and I thank him for the support that he gave me, I will always respect him," he said.

"I admire Messi for what he is, at that time we were both defending our National Team.

"If I could give my life for my national team, I would give it, but what happened was left [out on the pitch], there's nothing to it."
