Everton defender Kurt Zouma is delighted to be back with the France squad.

Zouma is on-loan at Everton from Chelsea this season.

He told RMC Sport: "It's not a surprise to have been called. I did not expect it, but it was not a surprise either.

"It proves that I worked hard. I was lucid about my status as a reservist at the World Cup. I was coming out of a season with a relegation with Stoke City. I stayed calm, I trained and I waited. I learned to be patient.

"I think I became more mature. I had a lot of help from my teammates, my family, my entourage. I learned to relativise. I go from an injury to a call in France team, I am very happy. The Euros would be a great first. I hope to be there. Before, it was a dream, now it's a goal. It's up to me to do the club job."
