Everton defender Jagielka has successful surgery

Everton defender Phil Jagielka has undergone successful knee surgery.

Jagielka ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during the match with Manchester City at the weekend and the decision was taken to have the surgery done as soon as possible.

Everton Head Physiotherapist, Mick Rathbone, travelled to the capital with Jags and observed the procedure.

"The operation went really, really well," he told evertonfc.com.

"The surgeon is absolutely delighted with it and the player's rehab can start more or less straight away.

"We never put a timescale on this type of thing but we're looking forward to having him back as soon as possible next season."
