Everton manager Roberto Martinez has confirmed that full-back Seamus Coleman will miss Republic of Ireland's upcoming Euro2016 qualifiers.
Coleman has been out with a hamstring problem since Everton's 3-1 win over Chelsea and would be a huge loss for Ireland manager Martin O'Neil for the double-header against Germany and Poland.
Coleman was unavailable for Sunday's Merseyside derby with Liverpool, and according to Martinez, the upcoming internationals will come around too quick for the 26-year-old.
Martinez said: "Seamus was desperate to play today and desperate to play for Ireland but medically he wasn't ready.
"I don't know how long it is going to take. I doubt it will be two or three days and he will be fine.
"I think it is going to be a bit longer than that. We are going to work with Ireland and hopefully get Seamus on the pitch as quick as we can."
