Everton defender Branthwaite set pen new deal

Everton teenager Jarrad Branthwaite is on the brink of signing a new deal.

The highly-rated teenager has impressed Rafa Benitez and his staff and was on the bench for Wednesday's derby defeat to Liverpool.

He is expected to agree a new four-year deal this weekend as Everton look to tie up the skilful left-sided centre back, says the Daily Mail.

Branthwaite was signed as a 17-year old from Carlisle United for £900,000, the first arrival under Carlo Ancelotti, and was quickly elevated to first-team training.

He had a difficult spell on loan at Blackburn Rovers last season and Everton are keen to loan him out again for more experience in January. Everton have a number of clubs showing interest in the 19-year-old, with around five from the Championship.
