Everton boss David Moyes has no doubt Jermaine Beckford will prove himself Premier League class.
The former Leeds United man got his first Everton goal from the penalty spot against Huddersfield in the Carling Cup but is yet to get off the mark in the league.
Moyes is confident the goals will come but has urged a patient approach with the 26-year-old.
"We have asked a lot by taking a boy out of the first division and putting him in and expecting him to bang goals in straight away in the Premier League," he explained to evertonfc.com.
"I would say in the case of Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines, they didn't find themselves in the team straight away. In some cases it has taken players a year to get settled in. He should be given the same time and the same opportunity."
