Everton boss Martinez excited by early Besic impression

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is delighted with what he's seen from new signing Muhamed Besic.

Martinez scouted Besic at the World Cup and was also full of praise for his new recruit after his debut.

He said: "For a player to feel at home so quickly is incredible.

"It shows you his confidence in himself, the quality that he has and the understanding of the players around him.

"He has looked like a player who had been at Everton for three years. I thought that's what I saw at the World Cup - someone who's not going to be fazed by anything.

"It doesn't matter if he needs to man-mark Lionel Messi [as he did against Argentina in the group stage of the World Cup] or he needs to get on the ball and make you play.

"I think he's a very complete footballer. He's only 21 and he plays with the maturity of a really experienced player and I really enjoyed his performance."
