Everton boss Marco Silva: We must play with greater urgency

Everton boss Marco Silva says they must play with greater urgency after their 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town.

Everton maintained their unbeaten record under Silva but only after Dominic Calvert-Lewin struck less than two minutes after Philip Billing gave Huddersfield a shock first-half lead.

“We expected Huddersfield to come here and put nine, 10 players behind the ball every time and close their box," Silva told evertontv.

“And in that moment, you have to play faster to disorganise your opponent and not give them time. To do that we have to play quicker and take the right decisions. We tried, it's true. But in some moments we were too slow.

“It's normal [for an away team to show Everton respect]. They have seen how we are playing and they came here to put everybody back in their box, close their box, waiting for our mistake – and you have to play in a different way to disorganise them.

“They showed big respect for our team but you have to be aware that can happen. You have to play faster to create chances.

“We controlled possession but in some moments it was too slow. In this type of game we have to put more creativity into our game and play faster offensively. And disorganise teams when they are sitting back and waiting for our mistake."
