Everton boss Marco Silva says their Prem 2 title winners will have to wait for a first team breakthrough.

David Unsworth has now led Everton's U23s to the title twice in in three years, having also won the division in the 2016/17 term.

"To be honest, I don't have this in our mind," Silva told the Liverpool Echo.

"If I call some of them for our squad it's because they deserve it, not because their season is over or not.

"We have many, many things to keep fighting for, our season hasn't finished. We have to do our best to win every match this season.

"I'm not saying if you put some of them in the squad list you are not able to achieve that, but we have to go with our strongest players to achieve what we want in each match."
