Everton boss Marco Silva calls time on Rooney stay

Everton boss Marco Silva has decided to call time on Wayne Rooney's Goodison Park career.

The Mirror says Rooney wanted to hear if he was in Silva's plans before making a final decision on DC United's offer to move to Major League Soccer.

And the Blues' new boss has made it clear he does not want him.

Silva does not believe Rooney has a future at Goodison Park and is happy for the 32-year-old former Manchester United and England captain to move to Washington.

Rooney wanted to stay at Goodison and only returned to his beloved Blues last summer, 13 years after moving in the opposite direction.

However, he is reluctantly coming to terms with the fact his Everton and Premier League careers are over and visited the US Consulate in Belfast last week to process his work visa.

There is agreement in principle on a three-year deal with DC United, and agent Paul Stretford is now negotiating his pay-off from Everton for the remaining 12 months of his deal.
