Everton boss Marco Silva: Bernard showing why we signed him

Everton boss Marco Silva is delighted to see Bernard settling into the Premier League.

The midfielder impressed for the win at Leicester City.

West Ham, Chelsea, both Milan clubs and Tottenham all registered interest in Bernard when it was clear he was leaving Shakhtar Donetsk - but were deterred by the player's wage demands.

Everton were not - and Silva explained exactly why he wanted him.

"Yes, it's true that he had some good offers - and not just from Premier League clubs," he said "but of course he is a player I know can give different things to us.

"He is a winger with a different profile and can give different things with the ball in the last third of the park.

"Today I took the decision to start with him on the left, and changed Richarlison's role as well.

"Bernard will get better because he hadn't played since last March.

"He played 90 minutes on Tuesday in the Carabao Cup and almost 90 again today which is important to him."
