Everton boss Marco Silva announces major clearout needed

Everton boss Marco Silva has confirmed they need to perform a major clearout to lighten the wage bill.

Silva would consider offers for players such as Morgan Schneiderlin, James McCarthy and Brendan Galloway, possibly Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott too.

But he is realistic enough to know it will be impossible to ship out as many as 17 or 18 players in a single summer, which leaves him with a massive headache.

“I think, yes," he said, when asked about spending-money beyond anything he brings in through sales.

“The ambition you have as a football club, you have the funds to do that because we want to be better next season. When you want to be better next season, we are able to do that. It's my ambition but more it is the ambition of the club, it is the ambition of the people that are behind me and support us at the football club."

Silva hopes to offload as many as the players currently out on loan as possible, and could realistically get fees for the likes of Sandro Ramirez, Kevin Mirallas, Oumar Niasse, Yannick Bolasie, Nikola Vlasic, Mo Besic and Kieran Dowell.

“It's really tough. And of course we realise the number of players we have under current contract, the wages and everything we must do," said Silva. “It's up to us to keep doing the right things. I'm 100% sure that what we did in the last market was really good for us."
