Everton boss Lampard happy Dele Alli amongst goals for victory over Blackpool

Everton boss Frank Lampard was happy to see Dele Alli on the scoresheet for their friendly win against Blackpool.

Alli struck twice in the 4-2 win.

Lampard said of Alli: "Really nice. Pre-season gives me a chance to give him games. I know he didn't get the chance to get as many as he would want [last season]. You have to earn the right, and you have to earn it with your performance, and I think the goals were great for his confidence.

"He's the same as I tell all of the team – there's improvement for every individual and us collectively, but it's great for him to get those goals because it's something he's had as a talent and a skill in his career. If he keeps working, as he has that natural talent, those things come off."

He also said of the England midfielder: "We are used to seeing him do that, and he did so well when he broke through at Tottenham, and if we are going to get the best out of him we want to keep that attribute because that's something special, to be scoring those kind of goals – there's a real art to that – but also his all-round game helping the team.

"I thought he worked hard today. As I said for everyone, there's room for improvement but I liked the attitude, the feeling of the players today. The fans turned out in big numbers so I wanted the players to react for them and I was pleased with the afternoon."
