Everton boss Lampard admits heavy Garner injury blow

Everton midfielder James Garner has suffered a heavy injury blow.

Everton manager Frank Lampard expects Garner to be out of action until February, with the 21-year-old midfielder confirmed to have sustained a back injury.

Lampard provided the update on Garner's fitness during Everton's ongoing tour of Australia, but delivered more promising news over the fitness of Tom Davies and Yerry Mina.

"Tom is three weeks-ish, which is a positive result as we were worried about him," Lampard told EvertonTV. "Yerry is similar, three to four weeks.

"Unfortunately, James Garner is going to be more than that. He's probably going to be back at the back end of January or early February.

"It's a disappointing injury."
