Everton boss Koeman: Barry still has two more years

Everton boss Ronald Koeman says Gareth Barry remains a key member of his XI.

The 35-year-old former Aston Villa and Manchester City player has made 600 appearances in England's top flight in his 20-year career.

And Koeman expects the midfielder to keep playing for another two seasons at the top level.

That would give him more than enough opportunities to better Ryan Giggs' record of 632 appearances that he made for Manchester United.

"If the team is compact and he doesn't need to run too much between the lines them he can play two more years at this level no problem," the Toffees manager said.

“He can't do all the training sessions of course, but if you keep the boy fit, he will be very important for the team."
