Everton are seriously interested in Hoffenheim midfielder Dennis Geiger this winter.

The 24-year-old has spent his entire senior career with the German club, but is now seeking a new challenge.

Per German Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Everton are among several teams that are serious about securing Geiger.

He is a defensive midfielder who has been linked to Everton before, with a move eventually not materialising in 2019 when he was only 21.

Plettenberg Tweeted: "X News #Geiger : SL Benfica & Everton highly interested in the 24 y/o central midfielder.

“Some Bundesliga teams too. Tendency at this stage: No contract extension at Hoffenheim, free agent 2023. Talks with all parties ongoing. Current salary around €1.5-2m/year."
