Everton banking on Cup goals from Beckford

Everton are hoping Jermaine Beckford can find his goal scoring touch in the Carling Cup against Brentford.

Beckford has netted just once - in the Carling Cup second-round win over Huddersfield - since his summer move from Leeds but Everton No2 Steve Round insists he just needs time.

He said: "Forwards always need goals to get the confidence going.

"We know he can score goals, we know his technique for finishing is excellent.

"Hopefully he can get one and then another and then away we go.

"It is very early for Jermaine. He has come in on a free transfer from the lower divisions and it takes a while to adapt to the intensity, not only of the games but of the day-to-day training."
