Everton are aiming to beat Tottenham to the signing of Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Carlo Ancelotti refused to be drawn on the Goodison club's interest in the 24-year-old this week, but the Toffees boss admitted that Hojbjerg is "a good player".
Southampton want around £35million for the Denmark international who has one year left on his contract.
Tottenham are willing to offer cash plus players in exchange, including Kyle Walker-Peters, who is currently on loan on the south coast, says the Daily Mail.
Southampton ideally want straight cash for their former captain and Everton hope they can take advantage of Tottenham's financial struggles to reach an agreement to take the midfielder to Merseyside.
Other clubs are also interested in Hojbjerg, who has been out in recent games with an ankle injury and is doubtful to face Manchester City on Sunday.
