Everton ahead of Arsenal for Gremio striker Everton Soares

Everton are moving for Gremio striker Everton Soares this week.

While Arsenal are keen, ESPN says the Toffees lead the race to sign the 23-year-old after boss Carlo Ancelotti personally called Everton to discuss a move to Merseyside.

The move could see the striker link up with countrymen Richarlison and Bernard.

Richarlison and Everton were both on international duty this summer as Brazil lifted the Copa America trophy.

Arsenal only canned a move to sign the forward as they opted to break their transfer record to sign Nicolas Pepe from Lille for £72m.

Despite Everton starting to learn English, a move never materialised with his age seen as making him almost too old to make the jump to Europe.
