Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn believes that the Portugal national team fully deserved their Euro2016 success.
Portugal produced a tremendous defensive display to shut down France in the final last won Sunday and emerged with an extra-time 1-0 win to clinch their first ever major title.
Lille striker Eder scored a stunning 109th-minute winner to lead the Selecao to victory in Paris, prompting the following words from Winterburn.
"If you were to sum it up, you'd probably say France struggled to create anything from midfield; they needed that quality player to pick the pass," Winterburn told Sky Sports.
"It's fine lines, winning or losing; Portugal created very little themselves but it was a sensational strike to win the game.
"You can't take this away from Portugal.
"They've produced a performance that was solid defensively and Eder was strong physically - he held off Laurent Koscielny and gave (Hugo) Lloris no chance."
