Euro2016: Tottenham star Alderweireld expecting Belgium improvement

Toby Alderweireld is confident Belgium can bounce back from their opening Euro2016 loss to Italy.

The Red Devils were beaten 2-0 by the Azzurri in Lyon on Monday but Tottenham defender Alderweireld, although well aware it will be difficult, believes he and his teammates can produce a much better display against Republic of Ireland in Bordeaux on Saturday.

"It's still football: anything can happen, but we try our best to extract all the bugs," Alderweireld said at a pre-match press conference.

"Only, football without mistakes does not exist, but we will do everything to win Saturday.

"It is up to us Saturday that we can turn the defeat against Italy into something positive. We need to show many qualities on the ball and a lot of energy.

"We are not satisfied with what we have shown, we want to make things right, not only for ourselves, but for the fans who were great against Italy and we are disappointed that we gave them nothing."
