Euro2016: Portugal were strong mentally throughout - France keeper Lloris

France captain Hugo Lloris states that Portugal were the stronger side mentally in the final of the European Championships.

Despite being heavily fancied by many, France suffered a 1-0 defeat in the Euro2016 final and the result was understandably a huge disappointment for the entire nation.

Les Bleus skipper Lloris has now gone on to speak about the devastating defeat and has stated that Portugal's mental toughness was the difference between the two sides on the night.

The Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper told L'Equipe: "It is part of football, we have to congratulate Portugal even if they did not really play great football, they deserved it having been strong mentally throughout the entire tournament.

"They showed a lot of reserves.

"From our end, it was a very very positive experience, we are all disappointed, distraught to have not won the trophy but we can build on what we have done in the coming years.

"We failed to be realistic, we lacked a bit of luck."
